Kids may encounter times when they have to see whether a number is divisible by any number. Such a situation may also arise in exams when the students or kids (sometimes even their parents) may use the following tactics to find out if a given number is divisibly by any number:
- Divisibility by 1
All numbers are divisible by 1. A situation to divide a number by 1 will never arise. - Divisibility by 2
Any number that ends with 2,4,6,8 or 0 is divisible by 2.
Any number that is divisible by 4,6,8 or 0 is divisible by 2.
All even numbers are divisible by 2. - Divisibility by 3
If the sum of all of the digits in a number is divisible by 3 then the number is also divisible by 3. - Divisibility by 4
Any number that ends with 00 is divisible by 4.
Any number whose last two digits are divisible by 4 is divisible by 4. - Divisibility by 5
Any number that ends with 0 or 5 is divisible by 5.
