A palindrome is a word, phrase, number or other sequence of units that can be viewed in the same way in both directions – from left to right or right to left. A “palindrome” is the property of reading the same in both directions. For example, look at the following words: “Papa”. You can see that the letters spell the same D_A_D from left to right or right to left. The word “palindrome” comes from the Greek word palindromos, which means “running back again.

Many words are still the same as if read forwards or backwards. For example, the eyes or civic principle, radar, level, cap, rotor act.

Phrases
Palindromes often consist of a phrase or sentence. There are phrases or verses in which the sequence of letters is the same read forwards or backwards. For instance, “nurses Run” and “Step on no pets.” The adjustment of punctuation and spaces between words is generally permitted: Madam I’m Adam. The numbers can also be palindromes.

Dates

Numbers
A palindromic number is a number whose digits are the same backwards to read. For example, 121, which can be read forward or backward: 1_2_1. Similarly, 58285 is a palindrome. 2-digit palindromes are 11, 22, 33, … 99.
